According to Oxford PPE graduate Theresa May Islamic State present the gravest threat this country has ever faced. Of course May is not up on her history but the sheer stupidity of her comments when cracking down on bad driving would save more lives is noteworthy. However next to Philip Hammond, Cameron, Obama and “the gimp” John Kerry she’s a fucking genius. Their policies of stoking war in Syria and Ukraine backfired. Now they have a carnivorous Russia playing with a Fascist Kiev. In Syria the Assad regime may be about to topple but now they do not want it to so swapped sides. Enter the dragons Israel and Turkey our supposed allies and recently not friendly to each other but both fervent backers of Islamic State against their enemies – Kurds in Turkey’s case and Hezbollah/Iran in Israel’s case.

UK/US policy is now beyond mockery or caricature as its supposed allies piss on it from a great height. To cap it all off the UK Govt is to build a military base in Bahrain so it can support that country’s refusal to democratise, austerity schusterity. Again the sidebar is these people have some of the highest educational qualifications out there and they’re all either morons or unaware of the own ignorance.

So a Congressional House Foreign Affairs Committee voted by 23 votes to 22 that the massacre of Armenians 95 years ago by the Turks was genocide. So 1 vote another way and it’s not Genocide? Some things should not be voted on. It’s a measure of the arrogance of the committee they would have this vote on someone else’s history. Saddest of all this vote has been the subject of a great deal of lobbying. Is this what democracy means that facts are votable over? Does this vote mean anything in terms of the reality of genuine history books? Does it serve any purpose to muck rake other country’s events from 95 years ago? If they change their vote does it change the events of 95 years ago? Should a vote of 45 Congressmen mean anything? Self Importance and arrogance beyond belief?

Why would America a country whose more recent history shows a support for regimes running death squads, introducing the world to Rendition, people beyond the laws of any land, Waterboarding and ripping up the Geneva Convention feel it has any authority to make what is surely a verdict for historians on someone else?

Biden, Clinton and Obama agreed with this motion 2 years ago and now do not. Mercifully none of them appear to have positions of real power to change anything so their fickle floating with vested interests is not a problem.

How can we ask the people of the world to move on after conflict when the leading country of the Western World indulges itself in this kind of nonsense?

All major imperial countries have massacres and genocides. For instance the British used hunger and greed  to kill millions in Ireland and India.
