Policy in the UK is now formed by trying to say something to appeal to voters primed by the Establishment media. This is as true of the so called Opposition as the so called Coalition Govt. Essentially policy is played by appealing to reactionary elements like myself in marginal constituencies unlike myself.

Thus the Conservative Home Secretary and Prime Minister proposed 2 of the window lickingist stupid policies ever – ever is meant literally there. Making Blair’s drag people to a cash machine and fine them on the spot look like the ‘Rope A Dope’ of political ideas. The first was a suggestion that to correct purely a silly target for net migration we should drive foreign recently graduated people to the airport and kick them out by Theresa May – an idea of such deep idiocy even George Osborne had to rule it out. This was then topped by David Cameron’s suggestion we ban encryption that the security services cannot break.

It’s frightening that MI5 asked for that. Computer Science is a plus in the UK and this would have been another really stupid policy that destroyed business who could no longer protect themselves and would have to go offshore. Do MI5 so little understand computing they would ask for that? That is probably why these frozen pole lickers want ever expanding databases as they have no practical ideas to combat people who would do harm?

It does leave you wondering if the UK can survive with a governing class drawn from people who demonstrated extreme conformism when entering Oxford and Cambridge at 18. Not to mention how much power MI5 has got by allowing paedophiles to serve in the Govt.

According to Oxford PPE graduate Theresa May Islamic State present the gravest threat this country has ever faced. Of course May is not up on her history but the sheer stupidity of her comments when cracking down on bad driving would save more lives is noteworthy. However next to Philip Hammond, Cameron, Obama and “the gimp” John Kerry she’s a fucking genius. Their policies of stoking war in Syria and Ukraine backfired. Now they have a carnivorous Russia playing with a Fascist Kiev. In Syria the Assad regime may be about to topple but now they do not want it to so swapped sides. Enter the dragons Israel and Turkey our supposed allies and recently not friendly to each other but both fervent backers of Islamic State against their enemies – Kurds in Turkey’s case and Hezbollah/Iran in Israel’s case.

UK/US policy is now beyond mockery or caricature as its supposed allies piss on it from a great height. To cap it all off the UK Govt is to build a military base in Bahrain so it can support that country’s refusal to democratise, austerity schusterity. Again the sidebar is these people have some of the highest educational qualifications out there and they’re all either morons or unaware of the own ignorance.

That an Iraqi Kurd was arrested for supposedly supporting Islamic State and the descriptions of the other arrests did not stop the Islamic hating Mail group especially the vile free hand out The Metro splashing with lurid headlines even their risible crap could not back up. That MI5 are just arresting anyone to stoke feelings ahead of more draconian legislation is nothing new. That they don’t have real terrorists to arrest suggests several things?

  • That there is no threat they are currently monitoring and for all their mass surveillance they are either useless or there is no threat.
  • That they know of credible threats but it makes more sense to monitor them and it’s better to ruin lives than show that hand. This implies that the need for fear headlines is paramount beyond being a so called intelligence service. That the Home Secretary is a execrable wretch who has no more belief in democracy and freedom than Islamic State.

I tend to the former view. There are no doubt small groups of fools who will do stupid shit and claim to be aligned with Islamic State but they are likely not on the radar. Last year they would have claimed to be al Quaeda but in reality there is no world wide evil empire.

It’s not good either way.

The recent ranting response to 1 Independence poll and the emergence of Islamic State has shown how this political class with no background outside the Ivy League/Oxbridge and politics cocooned with Polls and hawkish state security types cannot work anything out for themselves.

The first sign of a Yes vote and lily-livered say anything buffoons promised Devo Max. Labour is prepared to kiss democracy goodbye to retain Scotland not because is best for Scots or UK but best for Labour. Devolution is utterly undemocratic as no solution to the West Lothian question has been found. To propose more is ridiculous. Logically with no independence it should be reined in.

The Islamic State response as another bunch of Saudi thugs tries to grab power is the Elephants running from the mouse. Bombing is mostly pointless and like drone strikes exist so a weak leader can claim he is doing something about a problem his administration created.

Obama will get a library and be on chat shows and continue to be patronised like a 5 year old who can recite a sonnet. 200,000 Syrians are not so lucky in a civil war stoked for nothing than some bullshit about who is and is not a friend of Saudi. Sadly we can mock the absurd weakness of our leaders but other countries pay rather more dearly when we support nutters like Islamic State for tactical reasons.

A week after President Loony sent half a Billion freshly printed dollars carelessly like a man tossing a fag [UK vernacular] to Syria to support ISIS and other Sunni fucktards the British Govt froze the accounts of the British jihadis fighting for a cause we clearly fully support.

Why would we deny the rebels 10s of pounds whilst the O’ Administration sends hundreds of billions? Is it to keep Muslims coming back to kill us in the news? To scare us into the point-less, for any positive contribution, and vast infrastructure of the surveillance state? We have never objected to mercenaries going abroad. We did not freeze Simon Mann’s accounts publicly when he tried to over throw a President nor that of his backer Mark Thatcher nor other rumoured backers – did we even lock any of them up?

This is to keep in the headlines these dumb fucks coming back radicalised to justify things that have so far at massive expense not stopped one terrorist attack according to even the NSA – likely to come back disillusioned.

Ask a rightie about public health, education and welfare and they’ll wax lyrical about the threat to their freedom. Yet ask them about the military, subsidised spying corporations and subsidised banks and all they see is paragons of virtue.

The growing cost of spooks and the needs of companies providing these services and others like prisons to grow has seen their costs rise but not the need for such services. Obstensibly this was about the need to stop people self harming with drugs and latterly to prevent small cells of lunatics committing terror acts.

Yet what threatens their freedom? An infrastructure that allows instant access to their private correspondence to some operator who for all they know is a sexual predator, paedophile or the person they cut up this morning.

Even their unproven nightmare of welfare dependency is a dependency not some insidious Booz Allen looking for new things to monitor. It costs assuming that these people would be fit for a job that was open to them. However it costs less than pushing those people into a criminal underclass. It costs less than letting banks break the law. Indeed it costs less than paying for massive growing armies of outsourced and unregulated spooks well beyond the requirements of tracking a few hundred relevant al Quada.

The NSA White House says 50 and more plots have been foiled specifically by their snooping programs that cost Billions. They can’t point to one conviction as a result of this. Not one.

Nor can William Hague and all those former Home Secretaries in the UK.  It is amazingly expensive and cannot produce one piece of evidence in its own defense. Having spent all this money of course the leaders will not claim its unnecessary*. The point being buffing up conventional intelligence and not relying on machines will be a better bang for the buck. At present cost per terrorist is likely infinite.

This is ‘clearly’ not about terrorism. As today in the UK we found out Special Branch moved from Trade Unions to the anti Racist and Climate Change movement. That’s produced no positive results either.

I am sure good people have stopped attacks like the New York subway attack through good intelligence. I am sure some people do valuable work. I am not damning Intelligence per se just having my own insulted.

It was Joseph Goebbels who said “You have nothing to fear, if you have nothing to hide” which Foreign Secretary William Hague so cheerfully threw out the other day. No doubt many tyrants and loons have used the same rhetoric down the years. Continue reading »

The chief spokes-clown for the Obama Administration was in full flow. It was a discussion he’d like to have but whoever leaked the secret would be hounded to 20 years inside or preferably suicide or would visit somewhere they could use a drone. He went on to deny something no one had accused The Administration of – listening to phone messages – classic rhetorical device. Meanwhile the ironically titled Justice Secretary Holder, who one assumes got his name from holding the Prez’s coffee cos he appears to have no talent bar lying through his teeth, said the US categorically did not have a murder not capture policy even if Tuesday’s kill list discussion was personally the highlight of his week. We had 1 attack in 8 years and that was not strictly speaking what the Yanks would call Terrorist – being an attack on a serving soldier they would deem it blowback plus it’s unclear who it would necessarily terrorise bar soldiers – terrorism IMO is aimed at civilians. Nonetheless the next day a plane is needlessly forced to land publicly.

As said before HSBC were caught laundering money for terrorists and drug dealers. Nothing was done about it. Clearly a few deaths and some onion in the hankie time is all Cameron and co really feel when push comes to shove. The aim is either to be populist and make a political point or to erode freedoms or because they are fundamentally stupid. Worse more legislation and snooping is a surrender to the terrorists and swivel eyed loons.

This week a tiger and dog killed 2 people. 100 women are killed by their partners. 1000s a year die un-necessarily in hospitals. Labour and Tory have done nothing about any of those things. Indeed they willfully ignore the latter 2 categories. Naturally the Red Salt lot via the authoritarian loons Johnson and Reid support more nonsense.
