Immigration raises it’s head and the main parties policies may be best described as moronic. The concentration on benefits is political and as with the austerity cuts probably going to cost more than it saves. The point is the swivel eyed of Migration Watch may not like immigrants and try to put lipstick on why they don’t but their view is rational to a point and I accept widely held.

The response of the neo Liberals is cloud cuckoo land. It’s jumped the whale. It’s ridiculous. The clear point is as much as we would wish it otherwise the neo libs’ policies of selling off council houses, creating asset bubbles and a rentier economy, privatising public services and their desperate desire to monetise the NHS and Education, without calling it privatisation, means we cannot expand services or build more infrastructure except at exorbitant cost. Make no mistake the reason that the UK could not cope is not lack of land or lacks of natural resources or opportunity. It is it conflicts with the aims of the major political parties.

LibLabCon should really form a single party and stop lying to us there is any major difference in policy delivery and that they stand for something. At present on Immigration and other issues they say we can have our cake and eat it but it’s very unclear what if any cake they are talking about.

That an Iraqi Kurd was arrested for supposedly supporting Islamic State and the descriptions of the other arrests did not stop the Islamic hating Mail group especially the vile free hand out The Metro splashing with lurid headlines even their risible crap could not back up. That MI5 are just arresting anyone to stoke feelings ahead of more draconian legislation is nothing new. That they don’t have real terrorists to arrest suggests several things?

  • That there is no threat they are currently monitoring and for all their mass surveillance they are either useless or there is no threat.
  • That they know of credible threats but it makes more sense to monitor them and it’s better to ruin lives than show that hand. This implies that the need for fear headlines is paramount beyond being a so called intelligence service. That the Home Secretary is a execrable wretch who has no more belief in democracy and freedom than Islamic State.

I tend to the former view. There are no doubt small groups of fools who will do stupid shit and claim to be aligned with Islamic State but they are likely not on the radar. Last year they would have claimed to be al Quaeda but in reality there is no world wide evil empire.

It’s not good either way.

The recent ranting response to 1 Independence poll and the emergence of Islamic State has shown how this political class with no background outside the Ivy League/Oxbridge and politics cocooned with Polls and hawkish state security types cannot work anything out for themselves.

The first sign of a Yes vote and lily-livered say anything buffoons promised Devo Max. Labour is prepared to kiss democracy goodbye to retain Scotland not because is best for Scots or UK but best for Labour. Devolution is utterly undemocratic as no solution to the West Lothian question has been found. To propose more is ridiculous. Logically with no independence it should be reined in.

The Islamic State response as another bunch of Saudi thugs tries to grab power is the Elephants running from the mouse. Bombing is mostly pointless and like drone strikes exist so a weak leader can claim he is doing something about a problem his administration created.

Obama will get a library and be on chat shows and continue to be patronised like a 5 year old who can recite a sonnet. 200,000 Syrians are not so lucky in a civil war stoked for nothing than some bullshit about who is and is not a friend of Saudi. Sadly we can mock the absurd weakness of our leaders but other countries pay rather more dearly when we support nutters like Islamic State for tactical reasons.

It’s odd that people in the UK expect BBC to not represent the establishment and power any less than corporate owned media. BBC State Media in the UK positively refuses to cover Israel and does not allow anyone to mention it. Yet the left were all whining that 50,000 people marching on Parliament in support of the NHS somehow should have been on the news.

Where could they fit it in? We had the Muslim fighting in Syria scare story. The exaggerate the threat of ISIS (number 3000 to 5000 people). After the Muslim scare stories the sad death of Gerry Conlan which was actually news. Then of course the pitiable apology of Wayne Rooney when as we know guilt and apologising is the penance of people who will repeat behaviour – see the habitually late, of course habitually late who don’t apologise or change are probably sociopaths! No room at the Inn.

Its interviewers ask difficult but irrelevant questions of politicians – seriously ask a Lib Dem what they can do polling at 8% when we all know the answer and whatever the answer Ming the Tendentious gives is irrelevant to us. Ask him about why we are pretending at austerity whilst the deficit is 80 Bn with continual cuts to the tiny Jobseekers Allowance (5Bn a year) and the Bank subsidies at 40 Bn a year?

BBC is as much state media as TASS. As morally ridiculous as CNN or FOX or MSNBC and as patronising as the latter. You wonder if marches are only covered when under cover police officers start a riot to discredit them.

Worst part of it the poor are taxed equally as the rich to have this racist state propaganda pumped into their living rooms.

The chief spokes-clown for the Obama Administration was in full flow. It was a discussion he’d like to have but whoever leaked the secret would be hounded to 20 years inside or preferably suicide or would visit somewhere they could use a drone. He went on to deny something no one had accused The Administration of – listening to phone messages – classic rhetorical device. Meanwhile the ironically titled Justice Secretary Holder, who one assumes got his name from holding the Prez’s coffee cos he appears to have no talent bar lying through his teeth, said the US categorically did not have a murder not capture policy even if Tuesday’s kill list discussion was personally the highlight of his week. As much as I hate the press the idea of UK Govt regulation is anathema. I would almost certainly move UK libel law to be more American allowing much more fair comment. Much of the need to fill papers with prurient nonsense stems from the suppression of opinion by the Libel Laws.

The relationship between Govt and it’s media chums is already too close. An attack on benefits is always presaged by some example made of a guy with 15 children as though this is analogous to the realities of most unemployed and low waged households – clear collusion. The Police are still nakedly corrupt. Leaks by Govt the rule. It’s clear to all but the most blinkered and stupid person how much Rebekah Brooks ran the Govt of Brown before rejecting his hamfisted grovelling. For instance Leveson showed her obsession with Afghanistan which explained what made no sense at the time – why the arch clown [Brown] having backed out of Blair’s war jumped into an even more pointless contest.

The fact is the froth on the increasingly unread newspapers is of little consequence to society as a whole. Protecting a few celebrities is not unworthy but equally creating bodies to dictate to the press is just an advance in the creeping fascism of the New Labour years.

That all 3 political parties openly agree probably shows this matter is more important than I suggested. Equally we should fear the reactionary stupidity that allows the 3 charmless gutless mouthpieces to come together.

It’s tough to say that the current Westminster fluff over tax avoidance is well fluff but it’s fluff. MPs try to sound moral about the world they created. The point is the world envisaged and logically derivable from the Brown Govt is one of a Kleptocracy being slightly more generous to the poor but emphasising the tax revenue from the rich. A world of the beholden to their betters under 24 hour surveillance.

In the US as the Obama Administration tries to fulfil the similar dreams of Clinton and Bush this duality can be seen by JP Morgan operating Food Stamps whilst rigging so called Markets, stealing from its customers and M F Global customers.

Even the utopia of a populace in thrall to his magnanimity as Brown imagined has the problem there is only so much wealth they can steal from savers and pensioners whose incomes and job prospects are falling. We now have new Bank of England head Mark Carney’s operation to kill what little remains of pensions with QE tying up with Osborne’s crusade against the poor. For all the bluster of the public accounts committee and the rhetoric of Labour and Conservative the clownery will continue regardless of how much tax Amazon or Starbucks pay. Bank fraud will continue no matter how much time Police spend on dead paedophiles or people who listen to phone messages.

We on the left must try to get above the Content Fetishism and move to raise the real issues even if it means pointing out the deformed version of Capitalism we have.

Those who worry about the vicissitudes of the day to day Westminster bullshit may have missed the most crucial aspects of Rebekah Brooks testimony to the expensive and largely point less Phone Hacking inquiry.

Whether Mr Hunt left a smoking gun in his arselicken of the Murdoch posterior is a matter for his career and one which ever way it goes will make no discernible difference to the general populace in the next 100 years.

What we got was an explanation to Brownism. What it was and where it came from. Continue reading »
